Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ: Welcome

What is the difference between a wedding celebrant and a registrar?

A registrar provides the legal administration, and a celebrant can officiate a unique & bespoke wedding ceremony wherever you want giving you more choice when it comes to your day. There is something that a celebrant cannot do, which is legally marry you.

You can easily book a no frills registry office ceremony to complete the legal part which will not set you back more than 60.00 plus 11.00 for the certificate. This can be done before or after your personal and bespoke celebrant led ceremony!

What is the difference between a celebrant-led ceremony and a humanist ceremony?

A humanist ceremony does not include any spiritual or religious elements.

In contrast, a celebrant-led ceremony is entirely flexible, allowing you to incorporate as many symbolic gestures, spiritual references, or religious traditions as you wish. This makes celebrant-led ceremonies ideal for blending different faiths, beliefs, or cultures. These ceremonies are bespoke celebrations of your love and commitment, tailored uniquely to you as a couple.

Will you write the ceremony for us?

Absolutely—that's my passion!

I’ll ask you to complete a few questionnaires that will help me understand your story, your dynamic, and what you envision for your ceremony. From there, I’ll craft a script that’s uniquely yours. We’ll work together to finalise the order of the ceremony, and I can suggest meaningful readings or symbolic gestures, such as a ring blessing or a sand ceremony, to make the day even more special.

Can we write our own vows and choose our own readings?

Yes, absolutely!

This is one of the most exciting aspects of being your celebrant—I love hearing your heartfelt vows and promises on your wedding day. If you already have ideas, wonderful! But if you’re unsure, I’m here to help. I’ll provide inspiration, sample vows, and guidance to help you finalise your words.

To keep the moment extra special, I recommend keeping your vows a surprise for each other until the ceremony. I’ll even print them for you and bring them along on the day.

When it comes to readings, you’re free to choose any poem, passage, or even song lyrics that resonate with you. Some couples even commission poetry for their ceremony—how amazing is that? Friends or family members can be nominated to do the reading, and I love when loved ones participate in this way.

Do you officiate multi-faith wedding ceremonies?

Absolutely! As a celebrant, I specialise in officiating multi-faith weddings and blending traditions. You’re welcome to share the rituals, practices, or beliefs you’d like included, and I’ll ensure they’re seamlessly incorporated into your ceremony. Together, we’ll create a celebration that honours all aspects of your faiths and cultures.

Do you need to meet us before the wedding day?

Ideally, yes! I’d love to meet you in person to discuss your plans and rehearse at your venue before the big day. However, I understand this isn’t always possible—especially if you’re planning a destination wedding in Cornwall or Devon. In those cases, we can connect virtually via Zoom or Teams to ensure everything is perfectly planned and coordinated.

Do you cater to LGBTQ+ couples?

Absolutely, and with pride! I embrace diversity and inclusivity in all forms. Your love story matters, and I’m honoured to officiate ceremonies for couples of all sexualities, orientations, and identities. Together, we’ll create a celebration that reflects your unique love and commitment.

How far in advance do we need to book you?

As soon as you can. Many couples book 16 months in advance to secure their dream venue and vendors. Once you’ve decided on your venue, it’s a good idea to confirm your celebrant to avoid disappointment—especially if you’re seeking a personal, bespoke ceremony.

Once you decide to work with me, I’ll send you an onboarding PDF with all the details. Your date will be secured in my diary as soon as your booking fee is paid. From that moment on, I’m all yours!

Can we have a sunset or sunrise ceremony?

Yes, of course! I only book one wedding per day to ensure I’m fully focused and unhurried. This flexibility means you can choose the time of day that feels most magical for your ceremony. Whether it’s sunrise, sunset, or anywhere in between, I’ll arrive at least an hour early to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Can we bring our pet to the ceremony?

If your venue allows pets, then absolutely!

Your furry friend can even play a special role in your ceremony, such as being the ring bearer or the “dog of honour.” If you’d like to involve your pet, I’m happy to help make it happen. I can also recommend a professional dog chaperone to look after them once the ceremony concludes so you can focus on celebrating with your guests.

What kind of ceremonies do you officiate?

I officiate all kinds of wedding ceremonies, from intimate elopements to large, lavish celebrations. I specialise in creating personal, bespoke ceremonies that reflect your unique love story.

Whether you’re planning a destination wedding, a milestone anniversary celebration, or even a bilingual ceremony in German and English, I’m here to help make your day unforgettable.
